One Place Metro Alabama Family Justice Center



Allison L. Dearing is the Executive Director of One Place Metro Alabama Family Justice Center, a collaboration between the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office, the Birmingham Police Department, the YWCA Central Alabama, and the Crisis Center, Inc. At One Place, survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault receive wraparound services under one roof.

Previously, Allison served as Campus Violence and Prevention Coordinator at the Crisis Center where she worked with staff, faculty, and students at the five Birmingham Area Consortium on Higher Education (BACHE) institutions to develop and provide a comprehensive plan for addressing sexual violence, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking on campus. Prior to that, she served as Director of the Jefferson County Coordinated Community Response, a project encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration and coordination of services between first responders to domestic violence cases in the greater Birmingham area. During that time, she also worked with juveniles arrested on Domestic Violence charges at Jefferson County Family Court through a pilot project sponsored by the Children's Trust Fund of Alabama and the Alabama Coalition Against Domestic Violence that assisted the juvenile court system in domestic violence prevention and services efforts.  

Previously, Allison served as Staff Attorney in the Birmingham office of Legal Services Alabama where she represented survivors of domestic violence in divorce, custody, child support and protection order cases. She chaired the statewide Domestic Violence Practice Group for Legal Services and presented community education events related to family law.

Allison is a graduate of Samford University and Cumberland School of Law.
