The Voting Rights Act of 1965

In observance of the anniversary of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 TWN was honored to welcome author's Ruth Barefield-Pendleton and T.K. Thorne to share their individual experiences about the events leading up to the VRA of 1965. 


Barefield-Pendleton, former secretary of the Alabama Christian Movement for Human Rights and author of "you are there," MINUTES: The Central Committee, Alabama Christian Movement for Human Rights and Southern Christian Leadership Conference, 1963. 


T.K. Thorne, retired captain of the Birmingham Police Department - award-winning author of historical novels, NOAH'S WIFE and ANGELS AT THE GATE plus The New York Post's "Books You Should Be Reading" list title LAST CHANCE FOR JUSTICE, which details the investigator's behind-the-scenes stories of the 1963.
